ERDMS - Schools

Hi Everyone,

I realise this topic has been discussed previously, I'm currently looking at software packages (cloud or onsite) for our school, we are currently using Archive Manager but looking to move away from this to a more central system.

Looking at digitalisation governance documents so I would like a system where I can give access to key staff.

I would love to hear what other schools use.

thanks

Merilyn

  • Hi Merilyn and Carolyn,

I was looking at an upgrade from Archive Server to Archive Virtual to allow this kind of access, which would be a plus for our organisation. Such as allowing the Director of Business or the Head of School access to archival material like past Board decisions within digitised hard-copy records. However, I was uncertain as to whether the offsite cloud storage used would comply with State legislation for NG Schools. Another option I'm considering is a DAM (Digital Asset Management) system, which is designed to manage images but is often used for PDFs. Because it's an online platform, access can be enabled for significant people who need it to selected aspects of the digital collection.

It would be great to hear the experience of others in this space, too.

    Kind regards,

    Ros

  • HI Merilyn, I'd also like to find out about this. Our school uses Accessit, but it is planning to move the library database onto Oliver, and the Archives will go with it. I'd love to know if any schools have an experience of Oliver!

But I'm interested in your idea of giving key staff access to the database. There are silos of record keeping at my school, and unfortunately I don't have oversight of any of them until they finally make their way to archives! Are you planning for this to be the school's main repository of records? Is this something you are  working with your school's business manager on, or are you responsible for all the record maintenance at your school?

    kind regards,

    Carolyn
