Hi Everyone,

I am unsure if I should add this question here or in the student SIG but I am sure this spot is a good place as any to start to get valuable information from those that are practicing Archivist and Recordkeeping personnel.

Just recently, I was reading an article on freelancing and it got me wondering, how many of you out there are freelance Archivist or Record-keepers? Is it worthwhile and fulfilling? I am also interested, though while I am heading into my last 18 months of university, what advice would you give if you are interested in going to the field of freelancing? Understandably, one would look for fulltime employment at various organisations to incur experience but at what stage would you consider in possibly working part time within an agency and working as a freelancer?

Would love to hear your thoughts, how you first started to get your leg into the field with limited working experience, to transitioning to freelancing – maybe even working at a place where you actually love and can see yourself being at for a long while.
