  • Hi,
I've recently re-joined after a hiatus, and was wondering what the ASA position is on this announcement re job losses in ABC Archives, and the idea that reporters and producers should just search for archival materials themselves and be responsible for metadata? Also, when is the next branch meeting? https://www.theguardian.com/media/2022/jun/08/abc-to-abolish-58-lib...
ABC to abolish 58 librarian and archivist jobs with journalists to do archival work
A further 17 contract positions will also be axed with many of the staff affected based outside Sydney and Melbourne
  • I have posted 25 pictures of the Sydney Recordkeeping Roundtable/ASA NSW Branch event re WikiLeaks (held 23.3.11) on the Photos section of ArchivesLive!
  • NSW Branch Members: FYI & diaries: Cassie Findlay has kindly agreed to be our guest speaker in May 2011 for Information Awareness Month, at the regular branch meeting on Wednesday 18th May 2011.
Cassie will be telling us about the new SRNSW project, the NSW Digital State Archive. This Digital Archive project is highly relevant to the IAM theme: "Information Overload: Finding the tree in the digital forest". More details in due course.
  • NSW Branch members: In May 2011 we will hold an event for Information Awareness Month. You can find a Group for IAM elsewhere on ArchivesLive! At this point I am asking you for your ideas about a suitable event to match the theme: "Information Overload: Finding the tree in the digital forest." This sounds like a theme of discernment to me. I welcome your thoughts and ideas!

  • Dear NSW Branch members, I have just uploaded to the NING lots of photos of the 2010 ASA NSW Branch Christmas Party hosted by Rosemary Sempell. Thank you to Alan Ventress for taking these photos. Chrck them out, you may be there! Louise
  • Hi there NSW Branch members, we have 26 members coming along to our Christmas party in Rosemary;s Paddington garden next week, so keep your collective fingers crossed that the rain decides to cease and desist that afternoon!!
  • I posted it up Angela, and its awaiting approval....! Yes it is a little difficult to know where things are likely to appear. I think the ASA staff are watching how the ning is operating, and will then tinker some more with the structure accordingly.
  • Good point - hadn't thought about that. Between the events, the blog and the forum I'm not sure where to look for anything on the site!
  • Anglea, the branch committee had some queries and reservations about where we should post some things on the ning, given that this xmas party is an event at a private person's house, as opposed to in a public building. But I will post it up there in events, and limit the public info re the location. All members should have received the full info by email & post anyway.
  • Hi Louise,

I have paid but should we add it as an event to the site like the Tasmanians?
