NB this is not a final notice – please stay tuned for further details.

On: Saturday 17 August 2013

Time: starting 10.30am. Ending around 3.00 pm.

At: Cultural Collections department, Auchmuty Library, University Library, University of Newcastle

We will visit the Cultural Collections department, Auchmuty Library, University Library, University of Newcastle (incorporating the University Archives, Rare Books and Special Collections) see http://www.newcastle.edu.au/service/library/our-libraries/cultural-collections/. We aim to commence with morning tea, then have a tour of the archives and collections with the University Archivist, Gionni di Gravio.

We will then proceed to lunch in the centre of Newcastle (parking available) and can continue with a walk around the historic sites of central Newcastle. We would finish around 3.00pm and there might be time for determined vineyard visitors to detour on the return!

There will be no business meeting on the day, however we welcome all ASA members in the Newcastle and Hunter area to come and meet colleagues.

Please email the Secretary, Richard Lehane at Richard.Lehane@records.nsw.gov.au.

Travel arrangements

Those who are driving might like to indicate if they are available to take others. To do so, please add a comment to this discussion with relevant details (place of departure, contacts, number of seats).  A journey by train is possible (to Warabrook) though it would mean leaving Central at 7.21. (There is no trackwork scheduled.)

  • Being a train enthusiast from way back I might try the 7. 21 but I'll see how that goes against getting up in the dark!

  • I will be driving an empty car from Wentworth Falls, leaving approx 7:30am. Can do pickups at reasonable points along the way e.g. Penrith. Contact: richard.lehane@records.nsw.gov.au
