About the Seminar
Can we digitise our collection? Can I give a researcher a copy of our materials? Can we make back-up copies of stuff we own?
How you can use material in an archive will, in many cases, be affected by copyright law.
This practical seminar – run by two experienced copyright lawyers – will look closely at how copyright operates in the archival environment – what’s protected, who owns the rights, and what you, as an archivist, are allowed to do under the Copyright Act.
There will be plenty of time for questions during the session, with helpful hints on copyright compliance procedures to make your life easier. This seminar is ideal both for newcomers and for people who are more experienced – there’s always something new to discuss in the field of copyright.
The Speakers will be:
Ian McDonald, a copyright lawyer who formerly worked for the Australian Copyright Council, and is now Special Counsel (Copyright) for the firm of Simpsons Solicitors.

Ali Edwards, Senior Rights Adviser, ABC Rights Management
