The Society of American Archivists created a Crisis, Disaster, and Tragedy Response Working Group in 2020 to develop and provide immediate and ongoing resources and response assistance to archivists and their allied cultural heritage professionals who were documenting tragedies in their communities.

The Working Group does this through SAA’s Documenting in Times of Crisis: A Resource Kit and the creation of a Crisis Collecting Assistance Team (CCAT).

Three members of the Working Group will discuss the history, challenges, and successes of their program in the United States and talk about lessons learned so far - Kara M. McClurken is the Director of Preservation Services at UVA Library; Vanessa St.Oegger-Menn is the Pan Am 103 Archivist and Assistant University Archivist at the Syracuse University Libraries’ Special Collections Research Center and Lori Myers-Steele is the Collections Archivist at Berea College.

The webinar will be presented on Zoom. Registered attendees will receive an email with their personal invitation link.
