We are the Victorian branch of Museums Australia – the national association for the museum and gallery sector. Museums Australia (Victoria) is a membership organisation providing services for people with specific museum and gallery interests.

Under the central theme of Future-Proofing, the Victorian Museums & Galleries Conference will consider the challenges facing museums and galleries, and focus on innovative ways to achieve financial, social (succession planning, staff training), and environmental sustainability.

The event will include traditional keynotes, interactive discussions, lightning talks, focused parallel sessions, and a discussion panel. Topics to be covered include: the impact of climate change on museum buildings and collections, developing regional audiences, interpretation and storytelling, and adapting to change.

Our Keynote Speakers are:

  • Adam Rozan, Director of Audience Engagement at the Worcester Art Museum in the US
  • Dr J Patrick Greene OBE, CEO of Museum Victoria
  • Jacqui Hemsley, Director of MAMA (Murray Art Museum Albury)
  • Dr Nurin Veis, Manager of Scienceworks, Museum Victoria
