Join us for our free webinar Music Dance and the Archive: Embodied Research and the Limits of the Archive with editors of Music, Dance and the Archive, Amanda Harris, Linda Barwick and Jakelin Troy.

The volume Music, Dance and the Archive (Sydney University Press, 2022) reimagines records of performance cultures from the archive through collaborative and creative research. Editors Amanda Harris, Linda Barwick and Jakelin Troy bring together performing artists, cultural leaders and interdisciplinary scholars to highlight the uses and limits of archival records of music and dance.

Amanda Harris is an Australian Research Council Future Fellow at Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney, and Director of the Sydney Unit of digital archive Pacific and Regional Archive for Digital Sources in Endangered Cultures (PARADISEC). Amanda is interested in hearing the voices of those often excluded from conventional music histories through collaborative research focused on gender and intercultural musical cultures.

Linda Barwick is a researcher and writer whose interests include nurturing creativity, honouring intergenerational wisdom, and promoting diversity of thought and compassionate action. She is Emeritus Professor at Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney, and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities.

Jakelin Troy (Jaky) is Ngarigu of the Snowy Mountains in south-eastern Australia, called by Jaky’s community Kunama Namadgi. A linguist and researcher, she has a distinguished record in publishing and as a public intellectual. She is Director, Indigenous Research at the University of Sydney, founder of the Sydney Indigenous Research Network, and represents her people as a Director of Ngarigo Nations Indigenous Corporation. She is a member of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences.
