In 2010, Janine Douglas completed a PhD study on information culture (the values, attitudes, beliefs and behaviours towards information) in organizations and its implications for information management professionals.  Subsequently, Dr Douglas was awarded the University Research Medal for her study.  In this seminar, Janine presents the results of her investigation, exploring connections between information culture, information use and strategic outcomes achieved by organizations.  In one of a handful of evidence based investigations of information culture, Dr Douglas challenges the traditional view of information management, and highlights the strategic role that information professionals should play in encouraging and maintaining positive information culture.

In 2011, Dr Janine Douglas joined Information Enterprises Australia Pty Ltd as Associate Consultant after more than 20 years in the Western Australian Public Sector. During her time working in government agencies, Janine developed specialist skills in strategic planning, policy development and service options for information and knowledge management.  In her career, Janine has held the positions of Director, Information and Knowledge Management at the Department of Agriculture and Director of the Western Australian State Reference Library.  Over the years she has developed and delivered courses and training programs in information and knowledge management and lectured at tertiary education institutions. At present Janine is building on her research by pursuing the development of practical tools and solutions to identifying and developing positive information cultures.
