FINDING THE TREE IN THE DIGITAL FOREST

The South Australian Branch of the Australian Society of Archivist invites you to a breakfast event as part of INFORMATION AWARENESS MONTH. This year’s theme is ‘Finding the Tree in the Digital Forest’ and what better case study could we have than the State Government’s web site aimed at enabling its clients to do just that.

This year’s speaker will be Jan McConchie, Director of eGovernment, Service SA who is responsible for the Single Entry Point Online Program. Jan will take us through the developmental journey from the establishment of Service SA first website to the online one-stop-shop we can access today. This case study will demonstrate just how Web technology can seamlessly short cut the client’s access to Government Services in South Australia. There are sure to be hints for us all on how to use this technology to assist our clients.

Tea and coffee will be provided at no cost on arrival, and for those who wish to buy breakfast, there is a choice of “The Big Breakfast” or a Continental breakfast at a cost of $15.00. Please note that the venue is unable to offer a wider choice given the limited time.

This breakfast event is open to anyone with an interest in ways in which information can be created, collected, saved, modified, accessed and used to enable individuals to achieve their purposes. You don’t need to be an Archivist or researcher to come along.

Cost: No cost if you decide not to eat breakfast, otherwise the cost of whichever of the two breakfast options you choose to buy. Please be prepared to pay cash, as there will be no separate bills and time is short for the kitchen to prepare your meals.
