Digital Standards for Document Archiving
Following his recent well received presentation to School Archivists in the UK, David Clements of Dataflair has offered to speak at a seminar to be hosted by the Genazzano FCJ College.

The presentation will be divided into three sessions. Following the initial overview of the first session, participants may choose to leave, however the discussion of Archive Manager in the final two sessions gives users and non users the opportunity for some critical comparative thinking. The devil is often in the detail.

Session 1: Software Standards for Digital Archives

An overview of technical issues associated with software standards for setting up and managing digital archives containing formatted text and/or images. This will be a completely objective session with no reference to any Dataflair products.

Session 2: Managing Access to Digital Archives

This will be an overview of the approaches to managing electronic access to digital archives with specific reference to the features in Archive Manager/Server and Archive Browser that support this type of user access to archival data.

Session 3: Using Archive Manager and Archive Browser

An overview of the Archive Manager user interface with some suggestions for modifying future versions to suit the needs of archivists. This is essentially a user group issue to give feedback on how they would like to see future product development proceeding, but will also be of interest to non-users who may be considering the possibility of future implementation.

There will be limited places and reply is needed by Dec.1.

No charges for this event.
