The Caribbean Branch of the ICA (CARBICA) in collaboration with the International Council on Archives (ICA) will launch the first of three regional conferences entitled, “Archives at Risk: Regional Solutions to Archival Development” in the beautiful island of Grenada. This Conference, under the auspices of the Government of Grenada in conjunction with the Archives and Records Management Department of the St. George’s University, will be held from 14th to 16th February 2017. The conference will seek to address the main issues and risks faced by archival institutions in the Caribbean region as it relates to disaster preparedness and recovery in low-resourced, tropical environments. The Conference will include roundtables, training workshops and site visits mainly targeting government officials working with archives and records. A special focus will be given to building management and disaster mitigation.
