The BBC is the custodian of one of the UK's most important cultural and historical archives. Former BBC2 Controller Roly Keating has the job of making this material digital, accessible, navigable and, perhaps, mashable. In this keynote introduction to the Summit's session on museums, collections and archives, Roly will outline the BBC's current plans and indicate what the opportunities will be for indies to become involved.

  • Enjoyed this presentation. Lots of new ideas. I had just finished viewing when the Archives and Manuscripts journal Nov 2012 landed on my desk. Vanderberg's article on the convergence of libraries archives and museums is along the same lines. Very much a fan of the 'memory institution' idea. For me the issue is rather than archiving and storing how do i make this stuff available for others to reuse?
