***Survey on theory for web archiving closes Jan 31, 2016***

I am writing to seek volunteers for a research project called, Exploring web archiving concepts and frameworks, being conducted by myself as part of the Kent State University School of Library and Information Science.

The purpose of this research study is to explore the practice and theory of web archiving to identify gaps and opportunities in relation to selection, description and access to web archives.

You may be eligible for this study if you are involved with web archiving, including activities such as selection, capture, management, supervision, advising, standard/policy-setting, or management of web archives.

The research includes an anonymous survey and two follow up interviews. You can complete the survey and not participate in the interviews at all.

In the survey I ask 30 questions about web archiving concepts and practices that occur in your organisation. In the interviews I will ask for further details and information about your organisation’s web archiving practices, as well as request feedback on research findings and outcomes. Research outcomes will include results of the survey, as well as results from the interviews.

The online survey is available via this link. It should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. At the end you are asked if you wish to be contacted about participation in the interviews and if you select yes, a pre-filled email will appear for you to edit and send to me.  I can provide further information about the interviews if you are interested in participating in this process.

You do not have to respond if you are not interested in this study. Your participation is voluntary. Whether or not you participate in this study will have no effect on your relationship with Kent State University. You may also discontinue your participation in the research at any time without penalty.

There is no compensation offered to participate in this research. There is likely no benefit to you or your organisation directly by participating in the research. However, your participation in this study will help to better understand the concepts and practices of web archiving. The outcomes of the research may provide general recommendations and discussions for future research and practice to design and implement improvements in web archiving.

If you are interested in learning more about this study, please contact myself on lgibbon3@kent.edu or +1-330-672-0014 (office).

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
