The 'Palace Letters' and the High Court

According to a Guardian report today, the high court has just ruled that the commonwealth was wrong to withhold the so-called “palace letters” from researcher/historian Jenny Hocking. [About time in my humble opinion.]

Makes me wonder now what Archives Act 'categories of exempt information' might still be applied to limit access to the material.

  • Surprised there hasn't been more chat about this on Archives Live. Anyhow, looking forward to ASA President Julia Mant's announcement that there soon will be panel discussion on the topic including Professor Anne Twomey and Adrian Cunningham. Beaut initiative.

  • It will be good to have historical accuracy of the era..
