Privacy Commissioner opens doors

Mr Pilgrim…‘unique week for privacy’

The Australian Information and Privacy Commissioner is to host a two-day international conference in Sydney in July to explore the latest privacy and data protection trends as well as upcoming regulations and policy developments on the privacy front.

The Commissioner, Timothy Pilgrim, said the Data + Privacy Asia Pacific conference would attract privacy and data protection regulators from across Australia and the Asia Pacific region.

The public and commercial promise of data innovation has never been greater while at the same time the, public interest and expectations about how personal information is used continues to rise,” Mr Pilgrim said.

He said the conference would present insights into regulations and policy developments, both local and international, such as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
