National Family History Month August 2014

Be part of National Family History Month in August 2014!

National Family History Month is an initiative of AFFHO (Australasian Federation of Family History Organisations). This popular initiative has received broad support from some of Australia’s leading government and non government organisations since its introduction in 2006. Originally only a week in August, it was expanded to include the whole month in 2013 to allow greater participation across Australia.

The 2014 launch is again proudly sponsored by the National Archives of Australia and will take place in Canberra at the start of National Family History Month.

There will be hundreds of events held throughout Australia.

If your archives already has genealogy/family history events organised in August why not add these events to the NFHM web calendar so that more people become aware of your events. It is also a great opportunity to let people know more about your archives.

There is now an online category where you could add events such as:

  • visit (whatever your archives is) website
  • visit (whatever your archives is) online exhibition
  • invite people to subscribe to your e-newsletter
  • or promote an online index, publication or whatever

For lots of great ideas visit www.familyhistorymonth.org.au to see what family history events are in your local area. Events can be added right up until August.
