Indigenous Australians at war

Two complementary exhibitions open this week at the National Archives to shine a light on Indigenous Australians at war and examine the prejudice they faced at home: Facing Two Fronts: the fight for respect and Indigenous Australians at War from the Boer War to the Present.

The Archives’ digital exhibition Facing Two Fronts explores, through the lens of military service and the stories of those who served, Indigenous soldiers’ fight for social justice. Indigenous Australians at War, a touring exhibition from the Shrine of Remembrance, celebrates the courage, tenacity and resourcefulness of Indigenous Australians in the armed services.

The two exhibitions opened at the National Archives in Canberra on Friday 24 March.
