The Program Committee is pleased to announce the first Keynote for our 2022 Here We Are conference is Kirsten Thorpe who will present “Are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People still 'Captives of the Archives'?.”

Kirsten Thorpe (Worimi, Port Stephens) is a Senior Researcher at Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education & Research, University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Her paper reflects on the calls to action asserted by Henrietta Fourmile in her seminal article ‘Who Owns The Past?-Aborigines as captives of the archives’ (1989) to consider the current support for Indigenous people's self-determination and recognition of sovereignty in the archives in Australia.

Do you have an idea you’d like to share with our profession but giving papers is new for you or not how you do things?

The profession needs to hear from everyone - those just joining our ranks, those brand new to the world of information and those stepping in from other fields.

Contact the Program Committee via email mentoring or support to help you get started. If you’d like to discuss a panel, paper or workshop idea, the panel would be very happy to hear from you.

What happens once you submit your paper, your panel proposal or your workshop idea?

If your idea needs development, the programming committee will work with you or set you up with support from other members of the community.
