Given the quantity of pop songs released each year, it can be a challenge for archives and museums to preserve popular music for posterity.
Community-run, 'DIY' archives have begun to play an important role in housing the records, cassettes, posters, merchandise and other music paraphernalia that tell the story of Australia's music history.
RN Drive will be joined by Dr Sarah Baker, who is conducting a three-year study of the archiving practices of these DIY institutions, as well as Mel Blanchford from the Victorian Jazz Archive.
