Call for Contributions: Rising To Our Challenges 2023 Now Open!

We are pleased to announce that the Call for Contributions for the 2023 ASA Conference is now open.

Our archival challenges are many. The passion many of us have for our profession lies in the multifaceted roles that records and recordkeeping play in connecting times, places, people and spaces. This includes:

  • as instruments of government and corporate accountability and transparency,
  • documenting and safeguarding citizen and consumer rights and entitlements,
  • capturing the intricate and intimate details of our family, community and social lives, and
  • for education and awareness raising in dealing with sustainability, equity, justice and other advocacy and activism agendas.

In a world awash with digital data and information, how do we ensure that individuals, communities, organisations and governments value archival organisations, respect our professional knowledge and skills, and adequately resource and support recordkeeping functions?

We invite proposals for invigorating, enlivening, engaging and interactive presentations and sessions that articulate and explore the way that we as archivists and other recordkeeping professionals can dig deep and work together to address the issues that confront and confound us. This incorporates both the challenges within the profession that we have control over, as well as those external forces within the multi-dimensional contexts in which we operate.

Your audience will be archivists, records and information professionals from small, medium and large organisations in government, private and community sector organisations. Many are from Australia but we welcome and would hope to attract international delegates. As a hybrid conference, your audience will be both in person at the ‘G or joining Online via the EventsAir platform.

We welcome a range of formats including presentations/discussions (30 mins), interconnected presentations/panel discussions/debates (90 mins), short, informal lightning talks and workshops.

The Call for Contributions will close on 15 February 2023.
