The International Council on Archives Section on University and Research Archives (ICA-SUV) is seeking a consultant and collaborative leader for its next project, to develop and provide web-based discussions and an open resource on the theme of Archives and Ethics in universities and research institutions.

We seek and will prioritize applicants who identify as members of groups historically marginalized in academia and research institutions including those who identify as people of color or as from the global south. However, this call for applications is open to all, through 17th January, 2022.

This consultant will lead a collegial and international broad discussion on the concepts, practice, and variety of understandings within three themes, building on the vibrant conversation and successful virtual conference, “Archives, Ethics and Society” held by ICA-SUV in July 2021. These three themes are Ethics and Communities, Ethics and Civil Society, and Ethics in Practice.

See https://www.ica.org/en/suv-annual-conferences/suv-conference-2021.

The participants will be records professionals who work in university and research institute settings, although recordkeepers from other sectors are also welcome. The project’s main language will be English, with possible resources for other languages. While currently flexible, the planned results and products include a number of online discussions centering on the three themes, and a corresponding digital resource or tool. The latter will be open access, and will be available into the near future on the ICA-SUV website and other outlets.

The consultant will earn 1 500,00 €. The project must be completed by 31st March, 2022.
