9930240891?profile=RESIZE_400xThe Australian Society of Archivists is excited to announce that Archives & Manuscripts (A&M) will become an open-access online journal in 2022 published by the Australian Society of Archivists. This is an important move that will facilitate wider access to the journal ensuring anyone can access the journal online from anywhere and with ease. It also provides authors with the opportunity to share their work in full as soon as it has been published.

Each ASA membership enables us to publish A&M as open-access, in turn supporting community access to this scholarly peer-reviewed journal.

We would like to thank members for contributing their ideas and feedback throughout our review of the management of A&M. We are delighted that we have been able to deliver this model, which was something many of our members asked for.

Articles in A&M from 2022 will be published Open Access under a CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license. Authors retain full copyright.

Moving to open-access aligns with the ASA’s Goals & Values and Strategic priorities by:

  • Promoting the value of archives and records in society;
  • Supporting an open, inclusive and diverse archival profession; and
  • Fostering new and emerging professionals by creating ways to make opportunities more accessible.

Online access to A&M from 2022 will be provided through the same platform as our Online Archive, and members will receive an email notification when a new issue is published.

We would like to thank our A&M Transition Team for all the work they have done to make this possible, and acknowledge that the team and the ASA are committed to bringing the full A&M Online Archive together in the future.

All A&M issues published by Taylor & Francis are still available on the Taylor & Francis website. Articles are freely available after 3 years.

Individual members will continue to receive a print copy of A&M as part of their membership. Those who have previously opted out of receiving your print copy can update their preferences via the Member Centre under My Memberships - scroll down until to the section “Members receive digital & hard copy of our journal Archives and Manuscripts” and uncheck the box noting your preference to receive a digital copy only

From 2022 Corporate A and Corporate B (Standard) members will receive one print copy of A&M as part of their membership.

Thinking about submitting to A&M?

We strongly encourage members to submit manuscripts to A&M. If you are interested, you can visit our publications site for more information. A&M is the leading peer-reviewed archival journal published in the Australasian region. Emerging writers also have the opportunity to be nominated for the Archives & Manuscripts Sigrid McCausland Emerging Writers Award which recognises the work of emerging writers who have published an article in the journal. Each year the members of the Archives & Manuscripts Editorial Board decide the winner of this award, which features a $1000 cash payment.
