Archives in search for digital excellence
Outstanding projects being run by Federal Agencies are being invited to nominate for the 2015 Digital Excellence Awards.
The Awards, run by the National Archives of Australia, aim to ensure the Federal Government and the general public have access to trustworthy, usable digital information for as long as they need it.
Director-General of the National Archives, David Fricker said the award process would enable the Archives to identify what successful Commonwealth Agencies were doing and how others might benefit from their experiences.
“More specifically, the Awards acknowledge Agencies that have embraced digital transition and made headway in regard to digital continuity, with a significant change in the way their Agency operates in the digital environment,” Mr Fricker said.
Nominations open for annual awards
He said award winners would be selected from case studies submitted by Agencies that demonstrated progress towards digital transition or digital continuity, or best practice in digital information management.
“The judges will consider improvements in accountability and decision-making, and innovative use of technology,” Mr Fricker said.
He said last year, judges had identified benefits in the winning projects such as automating workflows, major productivity gains, successfully integrating multiple platforms, enabling efficiencies and enabling staff to move to higher-value activities.
Applications will be accepted from Agencies that have submitted a response to the National Archives’ Check-Up Digital in 2015.
Nominations are open until 28 February 2016.
