Following the upgrade from Ning 2.0 to 3.0, there have been some changes in how members receive notifications.
Previously within Archives Live there were 2 options for notifications - to receive or not receive notifications. You can now choose which specific items you wish to receive notifications for. This is done by “following” specific items.
For example: You can choose to receive notifications from Events, the Forum, the Blog and Videos. The same applies to pages in any Groups you may be a part of.
You can even follow specific event categories (such as ASA Events, ASA Branch Events, ASA SIG Events, Conference, Information Awareness Month or Other Events) as well as comments on individual Events/Videos and replies to Forum/Blog posts.
Whenever you see the Follow button at the button of the page, you can enable notifications for that item. If you are not currently following a module, you will see this icon at the bottom of the page:
Once you are successfully following, the button will turn blue:
Make sure you have enabled email notifications in your email notifications settings (read more about email notification settings: https://www.ning.com/ning3help/control-your-email-settings-and-messages/).
Please note that notifications for replies to Discussion Topics are currently temperamental - not all replies are triggering a notification. The ASA has logged this issue with Ning and will provide an update once it has been supplied. In the meantime, if you encounter any problems while using Archives LIve, please notify the ASA team via email at archiveslive@archivists.org.au.
To follow an individual and be notified whenever they post content, navigate to their profile and select the Follow button.
Make sure you Follow the News Forum to be notified about any Archives Live news or updates.
