This inspiring half-day workshop was developed for the ASA by well respected, professional
archivist, Barbara Reed of Recordkeeping Innovation Pty Ltd, as a stand-alone part of our
Masterclass series. Archival Digitisation (Medium) is geared at a moderate level to equip
participants with a firm foundation in the principles and practices of archival digitisation.
Knowledge and practical skills covered include:
• Benefits of digitisation
• Identifying and prioritising records for digitisation
• Major components of project planning for digitisation
• Copyright issues that must be addressed
• Technical standards and where to go for up to date information
• The role of quality assurance/checking
• Options for managing the images produced
Presenter
Dr. Pauline Joseph is a Lecturer in the Department of Information Studies, Curtin University.
Prior to joining the teaching team at Curtin, Pauline was Information and Records Manager at
Shell Development Australia. Pauline’s area of specialty is EDRMS (electronic document and
