Survey on the Monetary Appraisal of Digital Records

Greetings ASA Members,

My name is Jeremy Heil, and I am the Digital and Private Records Archivist at Queen’s University Archives at Kingston in Ontario, Canada. My research partner, Andrea Kampen, and I would like to invite you to participate in a short 10-15 minute survey relating to the monetary appraisal (valuation) of digital records.

We are seeking archivists and librarians who work or have worked to prepare and submit collections containing born-digital private manuscripts for valuation.

We are investigating three sides of the valuation process: the preparation of digital records for valuation and subsequent applications for acceptance by the Cultural Gifts Program; the valuation itself; and the deliberations of government agencies in certifying the value in the application.

To complete the online survey, please click on the following URL and follow the instructions provided:

https://queensu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6s5NoYFLniq5K2p

The survey will close on 15 February 2019.

Should you have any questions about this survey, please contact us at heilj@queensu.ca.

We would like to thank you in advance for your participation, and for supporting this research.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Heil and Andrea Kampen
