Happy new queer from Melbourne, Berlin and WA

I thought people in this group might be interested in this list of GLAMorous events happening during Midsumma in Melbourne in 2019 I prepared- particularly relevant to those in Melbourne (or anyone looking for a reason to visit). If you're organising an event or display somewhere, let me know and I'll help spread the word.

You may also like to join GLAM pride Victoria at Midsumma Pride March on February 3rd: We're organising a contingent of folks from the GLAM sector and march alongside members of the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives (ALGA) and other heritage professionals, volunteers, students, and LGBTIQ+ history researchers and enthusiasts. Sign up via this form or on Facebook if you’re interested in joining us or want to find out more about it. Hopefully the earlier start time this year will mean less melting than in 2018.

You may also be interested in this call for papers for the LGBTIQ+ Archives, Libraries, Museums and Sp... in Berlin from 27 June –29 June next year. A few Australians are helping to organise it and I've heard really great things about previous LGBTIQ+ ALMS conferences.
There's also been some nice recent(ish) queer history-related news from WA.

  • Thanks, Clare,

I'm certainly thinking about joining the Pride March this year but have already overspent my 2018-19 travel budget (with one big conference trip still to go) so I probably won't be able to make it. The long range forecast is for high twenties rather than low forties so it should be a pleasant day for everyone. Thanks for including 'carrier pigeon' in the sign up options. Those of us who work in repurposed WWII bomb shelters appreciate a variety of analogue options.

    Happy New Year!

  • Thanks for the update Clare! I've signed up for the Pride March.

I'm also dreaming of the Berlin conference, particularly as the international Digital Humanities conference is shortly after in the Netherlands, but may be defeated by lack of funds. We'll see!

    Happy NY all :)

    • Excellent! Digital humanities conference looks great and the 'complexities' theme very relevant to your research... hopefully you can get some funding assistance.
