  • Hello everyone - I am in my first year of a Bachelor of Information Studies, specialising in archives and records management.  Currently working two casual jobs - as library officer in one and student aide in the other .

I have a very long background in government offices, that is where I developed an interest in libraries and archives/record keeping. I am very excited to know more about this very important field and am looking forward to learning and sharing as much as I can.

    Cheers

  • Hi everyone.
I'm Julie. I'm studying my MA Archives and Records Management at University of Dundee, Scotland. It is distance learning over 2.5 yrs and I'm half way through. The course is recognized by ASA - so I thought I'd have a look what's happening in Aus and NZ (I am Australian but lived in the Uk for 15 yrs).
I work as an archivist for the Islington Local History Centre, and have to fit the study in around my work which is challenging. But as the study is all relative to my work it's good to be able to apply what I'm learning.

Looking forward to hearing how everyone is getting on with their studies.

    Julie
  • Hiya!

My name is Adelaide, and I'm in my second and last semester of the Graduate Diploma in Information and Knowledge Management at Monash Caulfield campus. Prior to my study at Monash I did an arts degree at the University of Newcastle, majoring in Modern History and Film, Media & Cultural Studies.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you, and see how you're all travelling with your studies.

    Cheers,
    Adelaide

Seeking advice

Hi, I am hoping to get some advice about degrees in archives. I am 40 and looking for a career change and am really interested in museum and archive work. I already have a HECS debt and am apprehensive about adding to it with a post graduate degree that isn't going to lead to a job.I was looking at the Charles Sturt Master in Information Studies with a specialisation in Archives. Is anyone doing this? What are the job prospects like in this sector? Any advice would be really appreciated.Thank…
