Software for archives management

Hi,

I'm in a hospital archives with a collection of physical items - documents, photos, uniforms, equipment - and squillions of digital photos. I would love to hear what software others are using to manage their collections - physical, digital or a combo of both. I have nothing but Excel and photo storage in windows at the moment.

Thanks,

Jane.

  • Hi Jane, my name is Mark Coombes from a company called SDS. We have a system called Archive Manager, and an SDS hosted version called Archive Virtual. You can find more information here - https://sds-archivemanager.co.uk/ or https://www.sds-au.com/ . We have lots of customers in Australia, so please feel free to email me at mcoombes@sds-group.co.uk, and I'm sure we can help on pricing. Best wishes, Mark

  • Hi Jane. We are using Recollect at the City of Sydney. We use it to manage our whole collection which is a mix of physical, digital, hybrid, etc. Recollect is a NZ company which has a strong user base in Australia. We went live 2 years ago and have been very happy with the system. Happy to have a chat if you would like. We are also expecting to talk a bit about our project to implement the system at the March ASA NSW branch meeting if you are in that group. Kind Regards - Michael Smith
    • Hi Michael, that does look interesting. I should have mentioned that I'm looking for a basic, low-cost solution, and Recollect's site gives no indication at all about pricing. I'll check it out some more though, and if it seems promising I might take you up on the offer of a chat, thank you. I'm in QLD, in a very small private hospital archives.
