A very sad state of affairs. This extremely valuable and significant archive is losing its only staff member. After Gabby Furneaux retired last year, a new archivist was given several 6 month contracts with implications that a permanent position would continue and be advertised. In a complete turn around, the position has been cut.  What will happen to the archive then ? This has also happened to archivists at the Royal Children's and Royal Women's Hospital. Ironically, the Eye and Ear and the Women's have been approaching the RMH archivist for advice as it was regarded as a model of high standards.

Hospital archivists need support.

What can ASA do ?
