Sounds of Australia was launched in 2007 with the announcement of 10 foundation sounds for the registry.

Each year, the Australian public nominates new sounds to be added with final selections determined by a panel of industry experts.

To see what has been added to the Register in 2011, see check out the Sounds of Australia webpage.

A complete list of the 60 sounds is available from the webpage and forms for nominating sounds for the Register.
