  • Hi John

I just read on the ICA website (http://www.ica.org/3357/news-events/atom-news.html) that release 1.1 is undergoing an external audit.  The news article is brief and copied below.

All the software developments relating to Version 1.1, which offers a complete module for the online description of archives in accordance with ICA Standards, have now been completed.

The software is currently being tested by independent technical auditors before final validation by the International Council on Archives. It is expected that the results of the audit will be available early in 2011. They will inform the decisions that will be taken about the future development of this flagship project by the ICA-AtoM Steering Group and the ICA Executive Board in spring 2011

  • Like you, Brigid, I find the technical content of the ICA-AtoM discussion difficult, but I have managed to get Version 1 up and running inside the virtual box on my desktop. So far, I like what I see. I will be in Melbourne for part of December so would be keen, if time allows, to chew it over with you or anyone else you have found there trialling it. Possibilities? • I've been having a look too.
I have signed up to their discussion list too, although am finding that way over my head!
Would love to hear from anyone else in Melbourne who is using it / considering it.
  • Thanks very much, Colleen; sorry to have missed Maggie's Conference demonstration. By the way - the online demo is now working (fixed following my alert to the project managers).
  • The Noel Butlin Archives Centre has been involved in testing the ICA AtoM software for the development group and has started to implement it. Maggie Shapley, the University Archivist, also gave a demonstration at the last ASA Conference. I suggest you contact Maggie at maggie.shapley@anu.edu.au
