  • Dear Readers

The Newman Queensland Government has publicly announced that it will investigate "new" and "old/original" evidence relating to the Heiner Affair.

Due to the players involved in this long-running saga, the legal advice is that the only lawful way to carry out this important task is via, through an Act of Parliament, the establishment of a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry, headed by three retired senior judges - with the full powers of a commission of inquiry - to investigate all matters and secure documentation from wherever it desires.

This is, to all intents and purposes, in accord with the joint statement put out by the ASA and RMAA on 21 June 2010.

This inquiry has the potential to change the governance of Queensland, if not Australia in relevant ways.
