I saw with interest the link from the International Records Management Trust shared on the RIMPA list yesterday by James Lowry about benchmarking good practice in records management in support of government openness.

I have only had a quick look at it so far and wonder if anyone else has read the document yet?

I enjoyed the below line and will be sharing it as much as I can (applying to all organisational and business instances where records management is important).

"Trustworthy and accessible government records are the means of demonstrating transparency and accountability; they are the legal foundation upon which openness is built."

I notice on the Open Government Guide website there are a range of records management standards and guidelines.

This is all very exciting, but I wonder when the standards and guides will be able to match practice? And when technology makes recordkeeping easier (I don't think it does now).
