The ASA has written an open letter to the Australian Broadcasting Commission; the Hon Michelle Rowland MP, Minister for Communications; and the Hon Tony Burke MP, Minister for the Arts regarding the proposed staffing cuts at the Australian Broadcasting Commission.

The professional services of archivists and librarians is a vital precondition to enabling the ABC to maximise its digital innovation and to thrive into its next century. The foundation established for a quality, trusted content, robustly selected, mediated and curated will not occur without rigorously applied professional knowledge and standards. This is not the time to be cutting professional archivists and librarians.
