The 2011 Victorian Community History Awards were announced today.

There are a number of award categories:

  • Best Collaboration - $2000
  • Best Publication - commercially published - $2000
  • Best Publication - community or self-published - $2000
  • Best Exhibition - $2000
  • Best Tour - $2000
  • Best Community Research, Register and Records - $4000
  • Judges discretionary prize - $1000
  • Overall winner - $5000

Of interest to archivists will be the prize for best community research, register and records which is aimed at those who arrange, describe and preserve historical records.

If you are aware of a group or individual whose project or activity is eligible (i.e. completed between 1 July 2010 and 30 June 2011 and based in Victoria), please encourage them to submit a nomination.

Entries are now open, and they close on August 19th. The ceremony itself will be held in Queens Hall of Victorian Parliament on Thursday 20th October.
