Dear all, You may be interested in completing the Emotional Responses and Archives: A Preliminary Survey. Please find the information below.

Wendy Duff writes:

I am writing to request your participation in a survey of archivists working in archival institutions (e.g., provincial archives, community archives). I have also attached a letter on letterhead.

The purpose of this study conducted by a team of researchers at the University of Toronto is to collect preliminary data on the experiences of archivists who work with records that elicit emotional responses. Archivists and archival scholars have the potential to be deeply affected by their work, especially by emotionally challenging and/or sensitive records. However, there is very little research into the impact of such work on archivists. Data gathered from this survey will be used as preliminary evidence of how archivists encounter and deal with emotional responses to their work. We hope this study will lead to further, more in-depth studies.

Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary. All of your responses are anonymous, and your IP address will not be collected. You may choose to withdraw your consent at any time without repercussions by exiting the questionnaire. If you withdraw before completing the survey, none of your responses will be saved. The submission of the questionnaire will confirm your consent to participate and the inclusion of your data in any report based on this survey.

The survey will take 10 to 15 minutes to complete. You can access it through the following link: https://protect-au.mimecast.com/s/fLM1CQnzDmsQoV3pSPk9P2?domain=surveymonkey.com.

If you have any questions about this survey, or difficulty in accessing the site or completing the survey, please contact Wendy Duff: wendy.duff@utoronto.ca.

Thank you in advance for providing this important feedback.
