Hello

I am seeking some advice / information about professional indemnity insurance cover.

I have been working as a consultant / contract archivist and historian for several years now, but for the first time this week I have had a new client include in my service agreement a clause that requires me to have professional indemnity insurance.

I would be interested to hear from colleagues who have professional indemnity insurance cover, with any advice / suggestions / recommendations.

Feel free to contact me directly (tapjb@bigpond.com) if you don't feel comfortable discussing this on the forum.

Thanks in anticipation

  • Hi Deb
Thanks for your reply. I appreciate the info and advice about the amounts. I guess I should check if the client has a specific requirement in relation to that.

  • Hi Tracy,

I have Professional Indemnity and Public Liability combined policy, cost about $107/month - I'll be looking at the policy Chris has.

I have $10M public liability/incident and $2M Professional Indemnity/year limited to $1M per claim. Most gov contracts (in SA)  require higher amounts of both but convince them down to this amount due to low risk Public Liability incidents.

    Insurer is AIG Australia Ltd.

Spoke and submitted application form to ProRisk about 11 months ago but never received a response.
