Dear colleagues,

I posted a blog entry late last year about a project I was undertaking into the practice and theory of web archiving to identify gaps and opportunities in relation to selection, description and access to web archives.

I had quite a few people participate from Australia. Thank you! Being from Australia and knowing our own work in this area I was grateful to see people respond enthusiastically.

I have had a few people who took the survey volunteer to be interviewed for the next stage of the process, but I am looking for more participants. Archivists and preservationists working in web and social media archiving in Australia would be fabulous, as well as any one else around the world. The survey had global participants.

If you are interested talking about web archiving selection, description and access please send me an email. It is not vital that you have done the survey first. Surveys will be conducted via Skype during normal Australian business hours.

The interview process is not long, but has two stages:

  • In the first interview the researcher will present you with findings from the survey on the same topic that was available from November 2015 to January 2016. You will be asked to provide your opinion on the survey results and to give more detail about the web archiving work being done in your organization. You will also be asked some questions focusing on decision-making, selection, description and access related to your organization.
  • In the second interview you will be presented with additional findings from the interviews which may include general recommendations for improved web archiving frameworks including policy, concepts, procedures, people and technology and be asked to provide feedback on them.
  • Each interview should take no longer than 60 minutes to complete.

You can remain anonymous participant in the project if you wish.

For more information or to volunteer for this project please email me: lgibbon3@kent.edu (formerly of Monash University).

Many thanks,

Leisa Gibbons
