This year's Loris Willams Lecture is to be presented by the marvellous Claire G. Coleman, an author of speculative fiction and a Noongar woman. Claire's debut novel, "Terra Nullius" is already receiving much acclaim.

Owing to some changes in the program, there is a second chance to provide a short paper or problem for discussion at the conference.

And finally, registration is open, with Early Bird registration due to close at the end of July. Details of the conference, welcome reception and conference dinner can all be found on the website, as well as our great tours and workshops.

  • Thank you all who attended this year's conference. The feedback to me, and to others in the committee, has been exceptionally kind and generous. We're working with Council on a feedback survey, to help the Adelaide committee with their extremely ambitious 3 way conference, including the ASA, ARANZ and the ICA!

Keep an eye out for updates from them!

  • There's also been a change around of venues for the digital preservation workshop and the wikimedia Australia ones. All still at Flux, but we have gone for a bigger, more flexible venue (the Basement) for the full day workshop and the Hinkler Room for the Wikimedia workshops. Details in the emails to workshop participants.

  • Those attending session 4 - Memories not lost in time - should read the Royal Commission report, chapter 8. Also, please twee any questions to @aus_archivists, @rhizome_digital or email Leisa Gibbons at Curtin University.

  • Less than a week to go for registrations! Better get in quick.

There've been some changes to the program so remember to have a look.

And, finally, Andy Mabbett, @pigsonwings, is happy to meet up with people while he is in Perth, who cannot get to the conference. He may even be interested in a little country travel...

  • Early Bird registration is closed, and we've had to close off a workshop and a tour, but rest assured, we still have plenty to tempt you.

We've had to cancel one of the panels on Thursday, but a replacement panel featuring WA ex public servant, John Langoulant, author of the review into major project spending in WA which highlights recordkeeping yet again, along with Simon Froude, Director State Records South Australia, and David Fricker, ICA President and DG of NAA, promises some great discussion about the role of these reviews and of archives generally.

The two Wikimedia workshops are still open. Bring your friends - at a cost of $10 for ASA members and $20 for non-members, this is a great opportunity for some insight into one of the world's premier information sites.

And, of course, there are still places for the Welcome Reception and Social Dinner. Looks like some fun nights ahead!
