Peter Connell, Coordinator for Cultural Heritage Services on the Sunshine Coast will talk about background to Bankfoot House and the valuable experience of establishing a purpose built Archive preserving a wide variety of medium from print, photograph, digital, and museum memorabilia. This will be followed by a tour of Bankfoot House Heritage Precinct, a tour of the Mary Grogor Centre which was set up in 2015 which houses the archives and interpretive space. Information on how to develop an Interpretive Plan – the decision-making process that blends management needs and resource considerations with school and student and teacher requirements which we could all adapt for our school archives. Interpretive planning is an initial step in the planning and design process for informal learning-based institutions like museums, heritage sites, where interpretation is used to communicate messages, stories, information and experiences. After lunch a report from attendees of the Roma conference of GLAM and a report from those who attended the QSA Pests PD, a discussion on Educational programs and curriculum links, updates on ASA an SIG Meetings, Conferences and Topics for PD required and a Q&A and sharing session.
